Bride Beliefs in Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a region rich with intriguing traditions The wedding can be very hilarious, moving, and completely different from the traditional eastern service. I had the honor of witnessing a few of them while filming celebrations in Bulgaria.

One of the most distinctive bride customs in Bulgaria is known as the “gelina.” It’s where the groom goes and steals his wedding from her relatives property, taking her to his own home. It’s thought that this tradition likely support against wicked mood and bring fine wealth for the brides.

The couple will typically attend a large reception in a restaurant or other venue following the ceremony ( or both ). Their mothers may transfer modest pieces of the classic round bread dipped in salt and honey before going in. The second element is spicy to remind them of the difficulties their union will provide, and the second is sweet, which serves as a reminder of the sweetness that will also be present in their life together.

The “kumove,” two people who serve as the couple’s most significant friends and mentors, are another crucial component of the wedding, making their role as their relatives and coaches. They will guide them in their upcoming lives along and support them through the challenging times.

When the greeting begins it’s time for a lot of dancers. The dance begins with the best guy and ideal lady. The bride and groom dance a few times, which is customary, to get their cake, which is very sweet.
